Too little too late

Hey Hey!

A poem for you and I to start this week.

|Too little too late|

If I believed in magic

I’d bottle you away

Spray you between my wrists from time to time

Dab you on, just below my ears.

I’d carry your essence wherever I go

So that you see the world along with me.

You left too soon.

I’d spirit your spirit

And drink myself to death

In hopes of running into you again.

I’d draw geometric shapes on sacred grounds

Light blue-green candles

Learn the ancient tongue so I can

Chant incantations to

Bring you back

Kick and screaming and vomiting other-worldly seawater.

If I believed in magic

I’ll come away with you

These mortal days are nothing

But endless loops of darkened rooms

And whiskey glasses and Norah Jones

The chill in my bones won’t recede

I’m afraid I’m going glacial.

You promised me that you’ll be there

Especially when you aren’t.

Too little too late.

I’m looking for a wand

A rune a spell an occult pond

You’ve left me an itinerant, vagabond

Looking for you from way beyond

Looking for ways to have you around again

These days I’m ready to believe in magic

I’ll believe in anything that will get you to respond.

Can you hear me?
